Joyent Cloud Security

There are many specific and unique elements of the Joyent Accelerator that ensures Enterprise Class security in the Cloud:

OS Level Security: Highly stable and secure Open Solaris.  Root access gives you full control over ports and processes.

Virtualization Level Security: Security is enforced by Joyent at the Global Zone level with Triple-A (Authentication, Access Control and Audit) controls.

Physical Security
: Physical servers are in a secure data center facility with bio-metric access control and locked cages.

Network Security: Traffic can be isolated and restricted to dedicated VLANs.  Outside the VLAN, all private IP addresses are hidden from other cloud users and traffic blocked at the switch.  Because private IP addresses are available, typical security patterns can be used to isolate app and web servers from the public Internet and instead leverage Bastion hosts for access.

Instances Persistence: Each Joyent Accelerator is a persistent virtual machine with local storage and static public and private IP addresses.  This smoothes rebooting, reduces complexity and reduces risk.

Storage Security: Local storage is available, as is encrypted NAS.

Firewall: Built into HA load balancers, which also help meet scaling requirements with caching of dynamic content.
